Baby you light up my world like nobody else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell
You don't know you're beautiful
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell
You don't know you're beautiful

True to his species, Barkley is extremely intelligent. He knows more then he probably should, and at times it can get to his head. He however, is very shy as well. He doesn't talk openly about himself. He enjoys walking and silence. Although if a good conversation comes along and sparks a interest with Barkley, he won't hesitate to jump in and have a conversation about it. He is a very unique horse, at times he could be the nicest, most caring, compassionate stallion you've ever known but other times he could be the devil. Usually no one see's the "devil" part of him unless they are taking/stealing/etc anything that is his. Such as herd members, family, friends.
He is very protective. He is also very jealous. He hates it about himself but its something he can't change. He hates seeing others with something he wants, he may not do anything about it, in fact you would almost rather him do something about it right then and there to save from his wrath later on if it were to fall on you. All in all, Barkley is a good boy. He's respectable, he is kind, and compassionate. Just don't get on his bad side and you should be fine.
Barkley hardly thinks of himself as the perfect stallion. He knows he is far from perfect, however he feels he is better then most. He doesn't take what isn't his, unless he feels it would be be for the greater cause. He doesn't mind telling a white lie, but he believes for the most part, the truth is always the way to go. However he isn't numb to feelings. He knows how to speak and he uses his gift to share his wisdom in the kindest ways. However, if you continue to ignore his thoughts and tips, he won't hesitate to be aggressive in his thoughts and be blunt.

Barkley's appearance shows his breed in every aspect of his breed. Tall and thin in all the right places, while thick and sturdy in the other places. Long legs hold his fit body, a rich black brown color etched in beauty. His fetlocks are feathery while his hooves are round and evenly trimmed. His face containing what appears to be white star centered on his forehead. His eyes being a bright hazel, reflecting brown and green in one. Tangled into his mane, he has two yellow beads as well as his tail. How he got them there, he does not know.

history •
Life was perfect. He had been born to a herd leader and his mate. he was their prized heir, the perfect leader material. His intelligence was known to every horse within 100 miles. No one knew where he got it from, no one knew why he got it, it was simply just there. He never questioned it, nor did his parents. The story is the same, he always thought he would become the herd leader like his father, leader the herd with dignity. Then he met Delia, she was the "trouble-maker" of the herd. His parents had told him not to play with her, and he generally obeyed them, it was easier then normal because she was always out exploring the land, she rarely ever came in and spent time with the herd. Barkley could remember the day he saw her like it was yesterday, they were both two year old's, growing strong and beautiful. Barkley was one of the stallions all of the mares had wanted to make their own, however none fit the image Barkley had of his future mate, so he pushed them off, ignoring all the attention, then like many good boys, he fell for the bad girl. Of course like any good parents, they tried to separate them, his parents not knowing they were driving a wedge between Barkley and themselves.
It was a summer morning, the year they both turned three. Delia was a pretty paint, golden in the sun and almost black in the night. She had beautiful golden eyes, eyes that spoke to Barkley. No one knew that Delia wanted to be the good girl, or if they did they never gave her the chance. Therefore, Delia and Barkley set off on their own, vowing to make their own herd, to rule it without judgement and hatred. It worked too, they found land, and even had a small herd of 4. It was perfect.
Of course, nothing lasts forever. Barkley woke up, blood dripped from his face, his body hurt more then ever, life was no longer perfect. He had looked around, and saw nothing. No herd members, no life. No Delia. That sparked the life in him. He hadn't known what happened, couldn't remember anything about the days before what happened. All he knew was everything was gone. He searched for Delia. And as years went by, bits and pieces came of that night. Screams, and blood, fighting, but that's it. He would never stop looking for the love of his life, but deep down, somewhere he feared he'd lost her to eternity.
When the earth he knew went to hell, and the water took over the lower grounds. He went up to high grounds. As he found that the water was raising to high and to fast, he knew he had no other choice but to swim. As he swam, he passed horses, passed the ones who didn't make their next chapter in life. Every horse he would past, he would search their face, hoping to see his beloved mate. But he never did. Never saw those golden eyes that melted his soul. When he came to the island he knew he had to give up hope to ever find her again. Give up hope that he would ever see the mare who captured his heart and soul.

The soft crunch of snow seemed to echo in the barren land, a black flank stood out like a sore thumb in a land filled with white snow. The stallion didn't mind, he was used to standing out with his rich coloring, changing from black to a blood bay in the right lighting. He always found it as a blessing, to have good looks. But then it could also act as a curse, he supposed it could play out in any way possible, but he always chose the blessing route. But then his good looks had caused him a hell of a lot of pain the past few years. Now he wished he was a ugly stallion, not worth a second glance. Then there wouldn't be a chance of a mare throwing her attention and her flirting games at him. He was many things, but he could never turn down a mare when they wanted him so badly. However, he wouldn't call himself a player. He had only had one lover in his 8 years of life, and if he had his way, he wouldn't find another one.. But whenever he taught that, a sting of pain would explode in his chest. He wanted a family, he wanted a colt that he could raise in his foot steps, to take over the herd as it grew, and as he grew older. Heaving a sigh, the dark stallion shook the thick main, the braids that were tangled into his mane, the yellow beads intertwined in them. His long legs eat up the space as he continued on this journey. He had a home, a empty land with no homes. He couldn't call it a home, not without any horses living it in.
Sighing, he lowered his head, and blew out. Grey orbs watched as snow scattered. He let out a stiff chuckle. Rolling his eyes, he lifted his head. He hoped there would be a horse out wondering, like himself, but so far he had been striking out. He hated to lose. But it wasn't a game he could play if no one invited him in.
Picking up his pace, he swung his head softly as the breeze swept across the land. Letting his eyes scan the white earth, he about tripped over his own feet when he saw a horse, from where he stood, it looked considerably smaller then his 16.3 HH but that hardly bothered him much. And since she was in the territory of his species, he could only hope she simply wasn't lost. Picking up his pace considerably, he approached her. Calmly, he rounded to the front of the mare. He didn't want to frighten her, make her run, so he went to the head of her. He let his eyes take in every detail of her before he spoke.
She had her head to the sky, not sure if she realized he was here yet, so he let out a soft nicker. He was a horrible conversation stater. Never sure what was the right words to say or not to say. His grey eyes looked over her body. Golden was the color that reflected in her eyes, her face was a brown with flecks of darker brown and ever white. As well as her flank, however on her rump, it was like a blanket of snow. Swallowing, Barkley knew he had to say something, or she'd pin him as a awkward stalker of sorts.
Hi Smooth prince charming, smooth. My name is Barkley, and I was just walking along and I saw you and well, wanted to say hello. What in the world had come over him. He supposed it could be because he hadn't talked to a equine in well over a year, but that shouldn't make him forget how to talk to one. Sighing, he tried again. I apologize miss, I am not a very good conversationer' as I am sure you could tell Barkley mumbled with a hint of amusement playing behind his words.
